2004 movie, After the Sunset is an action film with multiple comedy elements. The protagonists of the film are max And Lola, a couple of thieves specializing in theft of diamonds in love with each other. After pulling off the most important coup of their lives, stealing a precious diamond, they are intent on enjoying a well-deserved vacation on the beaches of the Bahamas. Here they actually plan to retire, officially retiring and living off the income obtained with their theft. However, their plans are disrupted by the arrival on the island of the FBI agent Stan Lloyd, who has been trying to frame Max for his thefts for years. Having heard of his rival’s possible retirement, he tries once and for all to arrest him by setting a trap for him.
In fact, Lloyd lets Max know that in the next few days a cruise ship will pass right near the island inside which an exhibition of precious stones is taking place, including a diamond of equal value to the one already stolen by the thief. Max tries to show that he isn’t interested in it, but the occasion is far too tempting to be able to give it up. He thus begins to plan his new coup, however, keeping Lola in the dark about it. In fact, she is not willing to risk their hard-earned peace of mind. To complicate things, however, there will also be a well-known criminal of the place, Henri Moore, who aspires to steal the diamond first. As the two thieves wage war, the FBI agent forms an alliance with local policewoman Sophie to bring them all down.

To ensure the film’s attention from the industry and the public, the producers decided to give the leading roles to some of the best-known actors of the moment. The first choice for the character of the thief Max was the actor Pierce Brosnan. He had gained great popularity thanks to the role of secret agent James Bond, played in four films between 1995 and 2002. The actor enthusiastically accepted the role, attracted by the charm that it emanated. It was Brosnan who then suggested Ratner as director, having long expressed a desire to collaborate with him. Next to him in the role of Lola is the actress Salma Hayek. Naomie Harrisknown today for her role in the film Moonlight, is instead present in the role of policewoman Sophie. Finally, the cameo of a famous American actor can be found in the film.
