MUBIthe global distributor, streaming service and production company, announces the release of Jellyfish Deluxefirst feature film by the director and screenwriter Thomas Hardimanwhich will be exclusive to MUBI from the August 4, 2023. From today also available trailer And manifest.

When a hairdresser is found dead during a styling contest, the remaining contestants try to uncover the killer over the course of the evening. Rivalries and mistrust escalate when the group of contestants begin to suspect that someone is trying to fix the race, gruesomely eliminating the participants. In the cast Clare Perkins (Secrets and Lies, Censor, Eastenders), Kae Alexander (Fleabag, Maleficent 2 – Mistress of Evil), Harriet Webb (I May Destroy You, Big Boys), Darrell D’Silva(Informer) e Luke Pasqualino (Skins, Snowpiercer, Shantaram).

The stunning photography of Medusa Deluxe is by Academy Award nominee Robbie Ryan (The Favourite, American Honey). The dazzling hairstyles are the work of the renowned stylist Eugene Souleiman and the hair and make-up designer Scarlett O’Connellwhose work earned the film the award for Best Make-up & Hairstyle at the 2022 British Independent Film Awards. The soundtrack is by koreless. Nominated for Best Debut Director and Best Production Design at last year’s British Independent Film Awards.

The film is produced by Michael Elliott, Louise Palmkvist Hansen and Lee Groombridge and is an EMU Films production. The film was developed and funded by the BFI, which awarded National Lottery funds, and BBC Film, and funded in association with Time Based Arts. Executive producers are Eva Yates for BBC Film, Lizzie Francke for BFI and Jim Mooney and Walli Ullah for EMU.
