AfterEarth

After Earth, a film directed by M. Night Shyamalan, tells the story of the state of the earth 1000 years after the destruction of the earth that killed almost all human beings on Earth. Earth is no longer habitable, humans have migrated to the corners of space to find planets to inhabit.

After a long journey those who survive re-establish social order on the planet Nove Prime. The planet is located many light years from Earth.

Humans live in sophisticated technology. However, their peace is disturbed by The Rangers Corps security forces led by General Cypher Raige, played by Will Smith. The Rangers Corps clash against a group of alien S’krell whose ambition is to conquer Noval Prime.

Cypher’s son Kitai is also a member of the Ranger Corps. However, Kitai’s actions bring his father’s frustration. The father and son who never got along were then on a mission trip to Iphis.

The climax begins, the spaceship that Cypher and Kitai are on is forced to land on Earth. The father and son had to fight to save themselves together because none of the crew members were alive. Earth is apparently not a hospitable place anymore.

Living things have evolved with the instinct to kill humans. This survival story is the idea of Will Smith, with his son Jaden Smith being the main protagonist of Kitai. It’s a shame that this science fiction film failed to present the power of a real action movie.
