Stephen Bessoni. The Mole delle Meraviglie, the photos of the exhibition!
The National Cinema Museum proposes Stephen Bessoni. The Mole of Wondersedited by Stephen Bessoni And Dominic DeGaetano, the first major exhibition dedicated to the creative genius of the director, illustrator and animator, hosted from 10 May to 11 September 2023 on the reception floor of the Mole Antonelliana, with free admission during museum opening hours.
The over 150 works exhibits – mostly from Bessoni’s private archive and from the collections of the National Cinema Museum – tell the fields in which his expressive research moves: from fairy tales to the world of science, from illustrations to animation stop motion and to the manufacture of puppetsup to the great love for cinema.
Between the fantastic and the fairytale, in a journey populated by puppets, illustrations, films, exhibits and scientific preparations, we find ourselves immersed in the world of Stefano Bessoni, a fascinating Wunderkammer inside the most majestic and imposing of Turin’s “chambers of wonders”, the Mole Antonelliana.
In addition to the exhibition are planned a series of initiatives starring Stefano Bessoni and his art.
Friday 12 May 2023 at 10:00 in the blue room of the Palazzo del Rettorato, Stefano Bessoni will converse with Domenico De Gaetano during the Masterclasses Stop motion. The black soul of animationcreated by the National Cinema Museum in collaboration with the University of Turin and the Scuola Holden, which will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition (free participation subject to availability).
Always Friday 12 May at the Cinema Massimo at 8.30pm the feature film will be screened Krokodylewhich will be introduced by the director Stefano Bessoni and by the director of the National Cinema Museum Domenico De Gaetano.
A series of events are also planned for the months of June and July workshops organized by the National Cinema Museum of Turin and the Scuola Holden in collaboration with the University of Turin.
